Texas Instruments Expands Bengaluru Analog Design COE to 5,000 Engineers

Texas Instruments is expanding its Bengaluru design campus to 5,000 engineers, making it the company's largest analog and embedded processing design centre globally outside the United States. The expansion adds responsibilities for next-generation high-voltage analog ICs, precision data converters, and functional safety power management devices for automotive and industrial markets. TI Bengaluru already leads design of several of the company's highest-volume power management and signal chain product families.

TI Bengaluru Grows to Global Flagship as Analog Design Moves to India

Texas Instruments has announced the expansion of its Bengaluru engineering campus to a target of 5,000 design engineers, a milestone that would make it the company's largest chip design site outside the United States across any engineering discipline. The expansion builds on TI Bengaluru's existing status as a major contributor to TI's analog and embedded processing product lines, adding new programme responsibilities in high-voltage analog ICs for industrial power conversion, precision analogue-to-digital converters for instrumentation and medical applications, and functional safety power management devices for automotive powertrain and ADAS systems. TI has operated a design centre in Bengaluru for over two decades and the city is home to some of the company's most experienced analog design engineers, making the expansion a deepening of an established relationship rather than a new entry into India.

Analog Design Expertise and TI's India Contribution

Analog semiconductor design is among the most specialised and experience-intensive disciplines in the chip industry. Unlike digital design, where design tools can automate much of the implementation work, analog circuit design requires detailed understanding of device physics, second-order effects, noise mechanisms, and the interaction between circuit topology and manufacturing process variation. TI is the world's largest analog semiconductor company and its Indian engineers have contributed to flagship product families including the TPS series of power management ICs, the REF series of precision voltage references, and the ADS series of high-resolution data converters. These products are used in billions of devices globally and the Bengaluru team's ownership of design work on successive generations of these families is a demonstration of the depth of analog engineering capability that has been built in India over two decades of sustained investment by TI.

Automotive and Industrial Programme Growth

The largest growth areas in the Bengaluru expansion are automotive and industrial functional safety power management, areas where TI sees the strongest demand growth and where the engineering requirements are most demanding in terms of reliability, temperature performance, and compliance with IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 safety standards. High-voltage analog ICs for industrial power conversion, including gate drivers for silicon carbide FETs used in solar inverters and EV charging stations, are a specific focus because India's clean energy transition is generating local demand for these components that TI seeks to serve through products designed with Indian market requirements factored into the specification. Precision data converters for medical diagnostic equipment and environmental monitoring instruments are a second priority, aligned with India's growing medical device manufacturing sector and its expanding industrial IoT deployment.

Talent Retention and Career Development Framework

TI Bengaluru's ability to retain senior analog design engineers, who typically have fifteen or more years of experience and are the hardest category of semiconductor talent to replace, is a key enabler of the expansion's technical ambition. The company has developed a technical ladder career path that allows experienced analog engineers to advance to Fellow and Senior Fellow ranks with compensation and recognition comparable to management roles, removing the historical pressure to transition into management to achieve career progression. Senior TI Bengaluru analog engineers are published authors on circuit design techniques, hold dozens of US patents, and are invited to present at premier academic and industry conferences. This culture of technical excellence and recognition is part of TI's strategy for making Bengaluru a site that experienced analog engineers choose to build careers rather than treating as a stepping stone to other opportunities.
