SEMICON India 2026, jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and SEMI, the global industry association serving the electronics design and manufacturing supply chain, is scheduled for September 17-19, 2026, at the Yashobhoomi India International Convention and Expo Centre in New Delhi. The 2026 edition marks a significant expansion from previous years, with more than 500 exhibiting companies from over 20 countries confirmed, making it the largest semiconductor trade event ever held in India. The scale reflects the dramatic change in India's semiconductor ecosystem between 2022, when the India Semiconductor Mission launched, and today, when the country has three operational chip plants, 12 approved manufacturing projects, and an active startup and design ecosystem attracting serious international attention.
Ahead of SEMICON India 2026, the Startup Policy Forum (SPF) launched the Semicon Consortium on August 6, 2026, an alliance bringing together semiconductor startups, venture investors, global semiconductor companies and industry associations in a permanent platform for advancing semiconductor policy and ecosystem development under ISM 2.0. The Consortium was launched days after the Union Cabinet's formal approval of ISM 2.0 on July 15, positioning it as a structured industry voice in the ISM 2.0 implementation process.
The Semicon Consortium's stated objectives include creating a permanent platform for structured engagement between the semiconductor industry and government on policy design and programme implementation under ISM 2.0, facilitating introductions between Indian semiconductor startups and international investors, foundry partners and customers, supporting long-term ecosystem development through knowledge sharing, mentorship programmes and industry-academia linkages, and coordinating the semiconductor industry's engagement with SEMICON India 2026 and future government-organised semiconductor events.
The September event will span the full semiconductor supply chain, with exhibition and conference programmes covering wafer fabrication equipment and materials, advanced packaging technologies, chip design and EDA tools, compound semiconductor and power electronics, AI and edge semiconductor applications, semiconductor workforce development, and investment and startup programming. The ISM's presence will include formal unveilings of ISM 2.0 programme details, including the equity co-investment model and the new equipment and materials incentive structure, making the event the primary venue for ISM 2.0 go-to-market communications to the global semiconductor industry.
Running alongside the main conference, the SEMICON India Hackathon 2026 focuses on AI chip design and semiconductor innovation, with a registration window open through August 16 and the grand finale to be held at the September event. The hackathon is designed to engage India's student and early-career chip design community in hands-on semiconductor design challenges, supporting the talent development agenda that ISM 2.0 has identified as a priority constraint for the ecosystem's next phase.
SEMICON India 2026's scale, 500-plus exhibitors from 20-plus countries, compared to a much smaller and predominantly domestic-company presence in earlier editions, reflects how fundamentally India's semiconductor ecosystem has changed since the ISM's launch. International equipment suppliers, materials companies, foundry representatives, packaging technology providers and chip design tools vendors are now treating India as a serious business development opportunity rather than a nascent market worth exploratory visits. For India's semiconductor community, SEMICON India 2026 offers the most concentrated access to global semiconductor supply chain decision-makers that the country has ever assembled in one place, creating deal flow, partnership and talent development opportunities that were simply not available three years ago.
