Sahasra Semiconductors Launches Rajasthan's First Chip Plant, India's First SME-Led ATMP Facility

Sahasra Semiconductors inaugurated India's first SME-led semiconductor ATMP/OSAT facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan on May 15, 2026, making it the country's 13th semiconductor node. Built under the SPECS scheme with Rs 150 crore investment, the 57,000-sq-ft plant operates Class 10K/100K cleanrooms and packages memory chips, with 60 million units annual capacity — over 60% already exported to the US, Germany, France, and Eastern Europe.

Sahasra Semiconductors Inaugurates Rajasthan's First ATMP Plant, India's First SME-Led Chip Facility

Rajasthan entered India's semiconductor manufacturing map on May 15, 2026 when Sahasra Semiconductors' ATMP/OSAT facility in Bhiwadi was virtually inaugurated by Union Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The facility is India's first small and medium enterprise to commence commercial production of semiconductor chips and the country's 13th semiconductor node overall.

Facility Details and Products

Built under MeitY's Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS) with an investment of over Rs 150 crore, the 57,000-square-foot facility operates Class 10K and 100K cleanrooms. The plant packages memory chips for Micro SD cards, flash storage, LED driver ICs, eSIMs, and RFID products. Current annual packaging capacity is 60 million semiconductor units, with plans to scale to 400-600 million units over the next two to three years.

Already Exporting to Global Markets

More than 60% of the plant's current production is already being exported to the United States, Germany, France, Eastern Europe, China, and Nepal — making it a functioning export unit even at this early stage. The plant sits within the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster developed by ELCINA at Salarpur in Khushkhera, Bhiwadi, which has attracted planned investments of over Rs 1,200 crore from 20 companies spanning semiconductor packaging, EV parts, RFID technologies, and industrial electronics.

Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that the state introduced a Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy in March 2026, covering semiconductor research, design, manufacturing, testing, and packaging, with a focus on OSAT, ATMP, and sensor manufacturing. Dedicated semiconductor corridors are planned across the Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar region. The Bhiwadi region, historically known for automobile manufacturing, is now emerging as a semiconductor and electronics hub as well.
