Kaynes Semicon and Swiss post-quantum cryptography firm SEALSQ have formed a joint venture called SEALKAYNESQ Ltd, investing approximately USD 20 million to build India's first post-quantum chip personalisation centre in Sanand, Gujarat. SEALSQ holds 51 percent and Kaynes 49 percent in the JV, which will programme quantum-resilient security credentials into semiconductor devices for defence, IoT, and critical infrastructure clients.

A joint venture between Kaynes Semicon, the semiconductor subsidiary of Kaynes Technology India, and SEALSQ Corp, a Swiss company specialising in post-quantum cryptography silicon, has established what is claimed to be India's first facility dedicated to post-quantum chip personalisation. The JV, incorporated as SEALKAYNESQ Ltd, is being built in Sanand, Gujarat with a combined investment of approximately USD 20 million. SEALSQ holds a 51 percent controlling stake while Kaynes holds 49 percent. Commercial operations are targeted for the second half of 2026, positioning India as one of the few countries outside Europe and North America to operate a quantum-resilient chip security hub at industrial scale.
Chip personalisation involves programming unique cryptographic identities, certificates, and security keys into individual semiconductor devices during or after manufacturing. Post-quantum personalisation goes further by embedding cryptographic algorithms that are designed to remain secure against attacks by quantum computers, which are expected to compromise conventional RSA and ECC encryption within the next decade. SEALSQ's technology stack, used in the JV's operations, implements NIST-standardised post-quantum algorithms including CRYSTALS-Kyber and CRYSTALS-Dilithium. Devices personalised at SEALKAYNESQ facilities will be quantum-resilient from the point of manufacture, which is a requirement beginning to appear in defence procurement specifications and critical infrastructure standards worldwide.
The JV's primary target segments include Indian defence agencies procuring embedded computing hardware for secure communications, IoT device manufacturers supplying smart meters, industrial sensors, and connected vehicles, and financial infrastructure operators requiring tamper-resistant secure elements. The Indian government's push toward domestic procurement in defence and its expanding deployment of connected infrastructure across railways, power grids, and urban mobility systems creates a substantial addressable market. SEALSQ has existing relationships with European and North American defence and government clients, and the SEALKAYNESQ entity provides a vehicle to extend these relationships to Indian government customers under domestic supplier frameworks.
Sanand in Gujarat has emerged as a focal point for India's semiconductor and electronics manufacturing cluster. Micron Technology's assembly and test plant, CG Power's OSAT facility, and now SEALKAYNESQ's personalisation centre are all located in or near Sanand, creating the density of specialised infrastructure and skilled workforce that semiconductor companies typically require. Kaynes Semicon itself is building an OSAT facility in the same region, and the proximity to its packaging operations will allow efficient handoff of freshly packaged devices for direct personalisation before delivery to customers, reducing handling steps and improving traceability.
